One of the Bombers' true champions and most inspirational players, Adam Ramanauskas, retired from football this year after 134 games and a remarkable comeback from cancer.

The twenty-seven-year old played 18 games in 2008 and the fans approved, giving him a 5.85/10 report card.

He didn’t have a player rating in 2007 but received a 4.95/10 in 2006 despite not playing single game, such is the Bomber fans’ love for the pick 12 from 1998.

The fans will miss Ramanauskas.

Here are some of the fans’ comments about Adam’s 2008 season.

Kieran Rimmer - Farewell to a champion of the club!

Frank Mammone - Talented. Courageous. Athletic. Inspirational. All this and more is Adam Ramanauskas. Well done Rama. We salute you.

Greg Kemp - Playing wise he struggled with demands of AFL and made the right decision. Off-field he has achieved more than anyone else and should be offered a non-playing position at the club.

Nicole Watson - Great final season from Rama. Shame he retired so soon. A real battler each week, need more like him.

Benjamin Duff - Champion! Privilege to watch him play.

Bill Griffiths - What more can we say? Rama is an inspiration. Making sure he has an ongoing role at Essendon will be a measure of this club's character and strength.

Jonathan Woods - Wasn't the best year, had some good games. Hopefully he'll be around the club next year to support the youth. May find a place supporting the Bendigo team’s development.

Mark Jones - Sad to see you go at the end of the year you were a great player for the Dons.

Steve Colakidis - Still proved to be useful on the field. Will sorely miss the fella.

Caleb Slade - An unfortunate end to an inspiring career. His leadership and decision making in the backline was second to none and his ability to keep a cool head was vital. Won plenty of the ball and is as courageous as they come. Well done on a great career.

Luke Jones - What can you say, I think this year he had a few good games but it’s all not lost he won a Premiership in 2000 so he’ll be happy going out with that. Hope to see you at Windy Hill.

Yazzan nashar - Adam is one of Essendon's most courageous players ever and he will never give up and while he plays the game, it doesn't matter for him if they are in front or they are losing, he just plays on like a superstar. good luck Rama!!!!

Michael Mirra - Goodbye Rama we are definitely going to miss your on-ground leadership. Thanks for the memories!!!

Robert Hansen - Adam was a faithful servant of the club. He gave his all and showed great courage. We saw him in past seasons as a very clever, brave player.
