After playing 19 games in 2007, injuries saw Jason Winderlich play just nine games in 2008 and the fans’ report card reflected that drop off.

In 2009 the 23-year-old (who turns 24 on October 10) was given a 4.81/10, down from 6.87/10 in his break-out year (2007).

The speedy midfielder was spending more time forward this year and proved damaging in a number of games before a back injury ended his season.

Taken by the Bombers with pick 11 in 2002, Winderlich is considered by the fans as one of the team’s bright young hopes.

Here are some of the fans’ comments about Jason’s 2008 season.

Robert Aynsley - Going to be a handy midfielder in times to come. Unlucky to be plagued with injury.

Stephane Millien - It was a real shame to see Winderlich sidelined with a back injury. Would love to see him overcome the injury hurdles in 2009 and recapture the form that stole our hearts in 2007.

Brad Jones - Stop getting injured.

Meelan Shengola - Good season but that injury was a big blow good luck for 09.

Tim Chapman - Jason just didn't get enough games this season. When he did play he played well. If he can take his running game to the next level, and get a few more games under his belt I have no doubting that he will be a damaging player.

Rachelle Bransgrove - Started season off well but was ravaged by injuries. His speed in the midfield will be crucial next season.

Shirley Price - Jason did well in he games he played in. However, injuries could sometimes slow him down. Keep at it Jason and you will be as good as if not better than previous seasons.

Sasha Andelkovic - Thought this would be his break-out season but injuries yet again have destroyed him. Even looked injured while playing.

Nassim Merheb - He gets more fit and doesn’t get injured he could be a helpful player in the midfield. He would give us more run.

Mark Grant - Unfortunately this guy is always injured. Maybe we should count our losses.

Ruby Cox - Played pretty well in his nine games this year but I think he can improve quite a lot.

Lachlan McLean - What he played this year was great and looking forward to seeing him back at his best in 2009 as a dashing midfielder who can double as a handy forward.

Craig Drakeford - 2008 was ruined by injury. I'm looking forward to seeing Jason fully fit next year.
