Essendon VFL need just one win from its three remaining matches to book a finals berth for 2015.

Despite losing their last two matches the VFL Dons’ hopes of a top-four spot are still alive, but they hinge on the results of others.

To steal a double chance Essendon must win its three remaining matches and hope Collingwood trip up on at least one of its three final games.

“We’ve obviously had a couple of down weeks and we need this win to guarantee us finals,” VFL Coach Hayden Skipworth said.

The Bombers travel to Frankston this Sunday with the objective to string four consistent quarters together.

“We’ve had a down quarter in each match in the last couple of weeks that has eventually cost us,” Skipworth said.

“We need to play out quarters and play out games, keep playing our game style and sticking to our trademark play.

“We’re looking for more consistency over a longer period of time.”

Frankston, sitting last on the ladder, fell agonisingly short of registering its first win this year last weekend going down to Coburg by eight points.

Skipworth acknowledged a strong start is needed to nullify the Dolphins’ home ground advantage.

“We’ve got to get off to a good start, but keep that momentum going and not let them back into the game.”

“Last year we drew with them down there. They’re always tough to beat at home so we’re mindful of that.”
