NBA star Ben Simmons has once again displayed his love for Essendon with a tongue-in-cheek tweet suggesting he would love to Don the Sash.

Simmons – who spoke earlier this year about his passion for the Bombers – took to social media to raise his interests in playing for his favourite team after finishing up his basketball career.

“Before it’s all done, I need one season in red and black,” Simmons tweeted to the club.

Many former basketballers have proven to be successful players in the AFL, applying their skills to great effect in our game, and Simmons’ junior background in football would certainly put the 208cm athlete in great stead.

While the 2018 NBA Rookie of the Year may be enjoying his position in the top echelon of basketball with the Philadelphia 76ers, Essendon certainly wouldn’t complain if he ever decided to return to Melbourne and become a Mighty Bomber.
