Courtenay Dempsey is set to return for his first game of 2016 when the Bombers face the Pies this coming Monday.
The veteran will play in the ANZAC Day clash after serving his suspension from the end of last year.
Dempsey comes in on the back of some good form in his game with Essendon VFL last week.
He replaces Jayden Laverde who will mis the next 6-8 weeks with a shoulder injury.
The Bombers have also named Sam Grimley, Jonathan Simpkin and Ryan Crowley in the extended squad.
If selected, it will be Sam Grimley’s first game in the Red and Black after joining the Club earlier this year.
The ex-Hawk has provided a good target for Essendon VFL throughout the pre-season and into the opening rounds, moving well and having an impact on the scoreboard.
Coaches will name the full side on Saturday afternoon, so stay tuned to the Essendon website for the latest.
