Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro is predicting Thursday night’s National Draft on the Gold Coast to be one of the most unpredictable in recent years.

The Bombers will enter the draft on Thursday with just two live selections at pick 26 and 55.

Dodoro said it was a hard draft to prepare for due to the uneven nature of what may unfold over the course of the night.

“It is an unpredictable draft so we are going in and hopefully covering all bases,” he said.

“We are not quiet sure what the outcome willbe as opposed to previous years where we have walked in really confident that we would get the outcome’s we desired.”

“Because it is a unique draft and speaking to others at other club’s they are of the same mindset, it is an uneven draft,” Dodoro said.

Senior coach Mark Thompson said last week the club would be searching for a young ruck man during the draft process.

Dodoro said it was difficult to predict what type of player would be taken as the talent pool was wide ranging.

“We are just going to take each selection as it comes and have a look at the first pick and if you get a tall you will be looking at the mediums or if you get a medium you will be looking at the talls,” he said.

“A lot of it will be determined by what is there at our first pick and our second pick but we won’t have a true idea of what we are picking until the night.”

Following the national draft Essendon’s recruiting team will turn their attention to preparing for the rookie draft on Wednesday November 27.

The Bombers will have two selections in the rookie draft having already taken Cory Dell’Olio and Areil Steinberg as rookies.
