Essendon captain Jobe Watson is confident his side is up for the challenge of taking on an in form Sydney team on Friday night.
The Bombers have won their last two matches in unconvincing fashion with the Swans coming off a strong performance against premiers Hawthorn.
Watson said his side was prepared for the tough battle of taking on a rampaging Sydney outfit.
“They looked pretty ominous on Friday night the Swans,” Watson said.
“We haven’t been playing fantastic football but we have been finding a way to win and sometimes you have to win ugly.”
“We are excited about the opportunity to play the Swans on Friday night on a big night for the club with our Call to Arms game.”
“It means a huge amount for the football club and what Adam Ramanaskus went through.”
Watson admitted the team had not been playing their best football, but he believed that the extra meaning behind Friday night’s game would provide an extra spark for the side.
The Call to Arms game, now in its eighth year, raises much needed funds for Cancer Council Victoria.
“For the Essendon supporters and the Essendon members it’s a great opportunity to come out for a great cause” Watson said.
