Essendon has completed its final off-season signing with the brilliant but injury-prone Dean Rioli signing a new two-year deal. Rioli is the final primary-listed Bomber to sign a new deal. Rioli, 27, has played 96 games for the Bombers since his debut in 1999, meaning he is due to play his 100th game against Collingwood on Anzac Day next season.
Essendon fans were disappointed to see Ted Richards leave the Bombers, but understood his decision to depart after limited opportunities in 2005. Playing ten games for the season, Richards was unable to cement a permanent position in the side, but he remains a favourite among the fans who wish him all the best at the Sydney Swans.
