Essendon Football Club has elevated rookie Cory Dell’Olio to the senior list for the remainder of the home and away season under the mid-season rookie rule.

The Bombers are able to elevate one rookie-listed player after Round 11 and still promote a rookie should a player be placed on the long term injury list.

The small forward has had a stellar season at VFL level for the Bombers booting 27 goals from 12 matches.

Football Operations Manager Steve Alessio said the 23 year old has earned his promotion to the senior list.

“Cory has showed consistent form this season at VFL level and we have been really pleased with some of his recent performances,” Alessio said.

“He has experienced AFL football before and hopefully he can be an important forward line option for us heading into the closing stages of the season.”

Dell’Olio booted nine goals from eight matches in 2012 after making his debut against Carlton in Round 4.
