Essendon impressed by Hume Lil Bombers
Essendon Football Club recently visited the Hume Lil Bombers AusKick program, based in Broadmeadows.
Supported by the Kangan Institute, Hume City Council and AFL Victoria, the program offers the opportunity for Indigenous youth in Melbourne’s North-West to participate in a structured AusKick program.
Facilitated by local champion Dorothy Bamblett, the AusKick Centre is new in 2013 and is already experiencing fantastic attendance and interest from the broader community.
The visit included appearances from club mascot Skeeta and Essendon champion Nathan-Lovett Murray, both of whom were very popular additions.
The club will be continuing its association with the Hume Lil Bombers and supporting the AusKick centre’s growth and sustainability.
Essendon Football Club Community Manager Cameron Britt said that the program ‘is a fantastic, accessible initiative for Indigenous youth in Melbourne’s North-West region. There is not only an engagement and participation outcome for young people, there is also encouragement for parents and carers to become involved and share in what is a positive community born and led activity’.
