St.Kilda remain at the top of the AFL ladder and undefeated after a convincing win against the Kangaroos. Adelaide posted its first win on the board this season and moved out of bottom position. Richmond’s woes continued when it suffered its fourth successive defeat and plummeted to 16th position.

Round 5 kicked off on Friday night at The Dome. Adelaide posted its first win on the board when it defeated the Tigers by 75-points. The Crows skipper stole the show and found plenty of the football. Mark Riccuito finished with 25 touches and booted two goals in his side’s victory.

There were no surprises at the Gabba on Saturday night. Brisbane continued on its merry way and recorded its fourth win for the season. The reigning premiers led Hawthorn at every change and ran out easy winners by 48-points. Alastair Lynch topped scored with four goals.

Melbourne caused the upset of the round when they beat the in-form Swans at Stadium Australia on Saturday night. David Neitz captained Melbourne for the 100th time and rose to the occasion. The skipper booted six goals and played a big part in the Demons 12-point victory.

Traditional rivals Essendon and Collingwood went head to head in the 10th anniversary of the Anzac Day clash. The Bombers got off to an early lead but Collingwood fought their way back into the game and the second half was a close affair. James Hird proved to be the point of difference between the two sides and collected 26 possessions in his best on ground performance. Hird secured his third Anzac Day medal and steered his side to a 33-point win.

Carlton handled the wet conditions at Optus Oval on Saturday and easily disposed of West Coast by 49-points. Carlton kept the Eagles goalless until the third quarter when the result was beyond doubt. Carlton full-forward Brendon Fevola booted six majors in the Blues second win for the season.

The Saints remain undefeated after beating the Kangaroos at The Dome by 65-points. St.Kilda’s midfield was unstoppable in the team’s fifth successive win for the season. Heath Black and Lenny Hayes were the standout performers and finished with a total of 69-possessions between them.

Port Adelaide continued its home ground dominance over the weekend when they defeated the Western Bulldogs by 55-points. It was an  impressive team performance by the Power - they had 12 different goal scorers. Josh Carr found plenty of the ball and topped the statistics sheet with 29-disposals.

Fremantle and Geelong completed Round 5 at Subiaco yesterday. It was the home team that took the four points. Geelong provided a tough contest but Fremantle who was too strong in the end and ran out 26-point winners.
