Star Essendon midfielder Joe Misiti today ended speculation about his playing future after agreeing to a new two-year deal with the Bombers. Misiti came out of contract at the end of the 2001 season and it has taken some time for both parties to agree on the terms of the new contract. Geelong and Collingwood put big offers in front of Misiti but were ultimately unable to lure him away from Windy Hill. Misiti informed the club of his decision first thing this morning.

""It is great to have a player of Joe's experience and importance remaining with the club,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said. ""His value to the team is unquestioned - he has shown that throughout his career and particularly over the past three seasons. It's great news for his teammates, the staff and everyone involved with the club.""
