It was bad news for Essendon mid-fielder Joe Misiti this morning after an arthroscope revealed ligament damage in his left knee. The best result will see Misiti return in six weeks while the worst case scenario will see him sidelined for 10 weeks. ""He has sustained some damage to his posterior cruciate ligament,"" Essendon doctor Bruce Reid said. ""It is a significant tear to the ligament which will see him sidelined for between six to 10 weeks.""
Reid said that unlike other ligaments in the knee, the injury did not mean Misiti would have to undergo a knee reconstruction. ""The arthroscope result could have been worse but it could have been better. It is a slow healing injury so he won't be pushed too quickly to get back,"" Reid said. ""He doesn't have a history of knee injuries so that will help him with his recovery.""
And it didn't get any better for the Bombers this morning with news that Gary Moorcroft will have to front the tribunal on a striking charge tonight. Moorcroft was cited on video evidence for striking Darren Hulme in the third quarter of last Thursday night's match. Matthew Lloyd also fronts the tribunal tonight.
