Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy will let his players know that the football world – and in particular Collingwood – don’t think his side can play in the wet. ""I’ll go and tell our team that Collingwood is bagging our wet weather football – that’s just what I needed. Thanks for letting me know about that,"" Sheedy said.

Today's deluge and the expected showers over the weekend mean this year's Anzac Day clash is almost certain to be played in slippery conditions.

Collingwood forward Anthony Rocca today questioned Essendon’s ability to play wet weather football.

""Becasue they spend a lot of time under the roof it could be a factor ... they haven't got the fortune of being out there that much. It will bring our odds down a bit,"" Rocca said.

Sheedy was unconcerned.

""Most clubs haven’t played much wet weather football in the past three years – we have been in drought – obviously a lot of people in the press haven’t realised that. We will train in the wet tonight but who knows what Sunday will bring – the weather could be okay,"" he said.

Sheedy said his team had no reason to be complacent going into this game. ""How can we be complacent – we have won two games, lost two games and have a percentage of around 80. That is not the sort of record you can sit back and be happy with,"" Sheedy said.

""Odds mean nothing to the players – you have turn up ready to play and we will be ready to play – don’t worry about that.""
