The Essendon Football Club Football Academy is back and it gives aspiring young footballers the opportunity to immerse themselves in life at an elite football club for a whole week. Running from Monday June 30<SUP> </SUP>until Friday July 4, participants will live and breath football for a week.
The Essendon Football Club Football Academy is back and it gives aspiring young footballers the opportunity to immerse themselves in life at an elite football club for a whole week. Running from Monday June 30 until Friday July 4, participants will live and breath football for a week.
The Academy includes education seminars on diet and hydration, weight training and fitness and running techniques. It will also include fitness testing, multiple skills sessions and media training. Excursions during the week include the MCG and Telstra Dome. It is a great week of education and fun for the young football enthusiast.
In AFL news this week, Dustin Fletcher is due to play his 287th senior game, bringing the total games played by he and father Ken (264 games for Essendon) to 551 games, equalling the all-time record held by the Silvagni family. The five leading families are as follows: Silvagnis (551 games comprising 239 games for Serge and 312 games for Stephen); Fletchers (550 games comprising 264 games for Ken and 286 games for Dustin); Tucks (506 games comprising 426 games for Michael and 80 games for Shane); Whittens (465 games comprising 321 games for Ted snr and 144 games for Ted jnr) and Tucks again (431 games comprising 426 games for Michael and five games for Travis).
