Irish recruit, Michael Quinn, has been elevated off the rookie list replacing Scott Gumbleton who has a back injury.
Football operations manager, Paul Hamilton, said Quinn's story is an amazing one.
""Michael placed his first game of AFL football just five weeks ago and now he has been elevated to our senior list - this is quite an incredible story,"" Hamilton said.
""Michael is an extremely coachable young man who has shown great determination and drive in his short time at the club.
""He has worked extremely hard on his skills and has received the benefit for that work - he deserves this opportunity and I think he will quickly become a fan favorite.""
""This is an historic moment for the club as we have never had an international recruit make it onto our senior list - we have had a few train with the club, but Michael is the first to get this far.
""Given the attitude and athleticism he has displayed so far, we think Michael will have a long and successful career at the Bombers.""
Nineteen year old Quinn has been named in Essendon's 25-man squad to play Fremantle this weekend.
