What some of the Essendon fans had to say:
He has great skills, is a surprisingly good mark, exhibits great endurance and has blistering speed but needs to work on his consistency. (Nathan Beever)
Winderlich came of age this year and is now an important cog in the midfield and is able to break games open with his speed. (Mark Elze)
Essendon is a better team with Winders on the field. He has great speed and runs the lines well but needs to have a season without soft tissue injuries to give him the confidence to take that extra step in AFL. (Paul Bosher)
Winderlich showed his true potential at times but injury robbed him of consistency. He looks to have finally cemented a spot in the 'preferred 22' and I’m expecting big things from Jason in 2008. (Daisy Graham)
Winderlich looked the goods this year and when he backed himself he seemed uncatchable. He has great pace and can be very innovative. (Matt Milburn)
He needs to work himself into the game a little more because he can be a damaging player. (Adrian Cursio)
