The Bombers are back in town tonight after defeating the Brisbane Lions by eight points. It was a hard fought and intense battle and it came down to the last man standing in the end. Essendon dug deep in the final term and threw everything it had at the reigning premiers to record one of its best wins for the season. Not only are the Bombers back in the finals race, they will take confidence from the match having not beaten Brisbane since round 8 2000.
It is 10 years to the day since Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy waved his coach’s jacket moments after his club’s stirring win over West Coast in front of an MCG packed with Essendon supporters. And don’t be surprised if the coach repeats the dose tomorrow night if Essendon can get over Brisbane - the one proviso being that Bomber fans keep their end of the bargain and pack The Dome to the rafters.
