It is 10 years to the day since Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy waved his coach’s jacket moments after his club’s stirring win over West Coast in front of an MCG packed with Essendon supporters. And don’t be surprised if the coach repeats the dose tomorrow night if Essendon can get over Brisbane - the one proviso being that Bomber fans keep their end of the bargain and pack The Dome to the rafters.

Speaking exclusively to Channel Seven news tonight, Sheedy said he wanted The Dome to be “rocking and rolling” come Saturday night. “This is a Grand Final for us and we need every fan there making sure the whole stadium is a sea of black and red – there are no excuses for that not being the case,” Sheedy said.

“There were dust storms and thunderstorms in Adelaide last weekend but the crowd still turned up and they gave us absolute hell. I want it to be the same as it was for that West Coast Eagles’ game 10 years ago.”
