Essendon Football Club today apologised to members who had to queue for long periods to collect members’ tickets prior to the Carlton game on Saturday night.
Essendon Customer Marketing Manager Eartha Barclay said Essendon staff worked as quickly as they could to service the demand but were clearly unable to meet the demand.
“We recognise there were very long waits for many members picking up memberships and we apologise to them – to wait as long as some did is clearly unacceptable. We thank those members who were so patient while we tried to clear the back log,” Barclay said.
“Essendon staff worked as quickly as they could from 4.30pm in the lead up to the game but struggled to meet the demand. Clearly we need to find a more efficient way of handling this issue in the future so we can deliver the type of service we strive to provide to members.”
To ensure members do not encounter similar delays on Friday night when Essendon plays the Bulldogs at The Dome, the following measures will be put in place:
- Those memberships taken to the Carlton game that were not picked up will be lodged with Australia Post today, Monday 7 April.
- Any match day memberships processed between Friday 4 and Monday 7 April will be lodged with Australia Post on Tuesday 8 April.
- Any memberships processed prior to the weekly deadline of Tuesday 8 April 5.30pm will be express posted on Wednesday 9 April.
- Memberships processed from Wed 9 - Friday 11 April will be taken to the game and will be available for pick up from the marquee located on the footbridge near Southern Cross station from 5pm. The Club urges members to collect these tickets as early as possible to avoid queuing.
PLEASE NOTE: if you have recently purchased membership with annual reserve seats the above timelines may not apply. If you do not receive your kit in the mail before Friday please come to the marquee where the staff will assist
THE Club also wishes to advise members that the next four rounds are all fully ticketed games meaning members without a reserved seat will need to purchase one for these matches.
