Essendon fans are expecting big things from Angus Monfries next year in what could prove as a make or break season for the young Bomber.

Monfries excited fans with his courageous attack on the footy in 2006, but struggled to have as much of an impact on the field in the earlier half of this season before coming into form in the later stages of the year.

Supporters hope to see Monfries given more time in the midfield next year, and if he can find some consistency in 2008, see him becoming one of the future stars of the club.

What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

It was a good transition year for Monfries. I can’t wait until he is ‘in and under’ in the centre! He will be a big improver in 2008. (Cich Mammone)

Gus showed glimpses of class this year but a bit more work on his pace and endurance should see him develop into a good partner for Jobe in the middle of the ground. (Bill Griffiths)

He was solid without being spectacular. Angus needs to be given more time in the midfield, and with a new coach, he might get that opportunity. (Carl Farriciello)

Angus needs to become more consistent, increase his work rate, and play out all four quarters if he is going to live up to his potential. (Nikita Sharpe)

He was courageous and looked lethal on the ball when given a midfield role. However, he needs to up his tackling and aggression. (Barney Sneddon)

Has the potential to be a much more damaging player. (Terry Murphy)

Angus fought back after being dropped and showed a little glimpse of the Monfries midfielder we've been waiting for. (Daniel Farrugia)
