Essendon's first round selection (number 8 overall) Dyson Heppell admits he hasn't stopped smiling since his name was read out at the national draft on Thursday night.
""It is an amazing feeling right now. It is a real relief and it is fantastic to be at Bomberland. Heppell Said
I barracked for the Bombers growing up so to be drafted to the club you have grown up supporting is a dream come true.""
Recruited from the Gippsland Power, Heppell is a tall midfielder known for his endurance, skill and poise under pressure.
""I see myself as a pretty versatile player who is able to push intothe midfield or kick goals up forward. I think I have a little bit of X factor and hopefully I can bring some good skills to the club. He said
""It was a surreal experience to meet James Hird. Growing up watching James and wearing his number on my back and meeting him in the flesh was even better.""
Heppell will join other draftees Ariel Steinberg, Alex Browne, Luke Davis and Michael Ross at training on Monday.
