Essendon senior assistant coach Mark Thompson believesthe Bombers will come out of their current form slump over the last five roundsof the season.
Despite a long injury list playing a role inthe poor performances over the last four weeks, Thompson said there was more towork on then just getting injured players back on the field.
“Ithink that this little down period we are having is something we can come outof and it is not just about the players that are out,” Thompson said on SEN.
“The players that are in the team aren’t playingvery well and we are all pretty confident that we can get them out of that hole.”
“We know that when our best players are inthe team we are a good chance of beating anyone on the day.”
The Bombers were without Michael Hurley,Paddy Ryder and Stewart Crameri in last night’s 94-point loss to Hawthorn.
Thompson admitted trying to win without thetrio was a tough task.
“It is hard to win games when those playersaren’t in your team so it has a massive impact.”
“We need to get to a certain level ofstrength and fitness and we are not going to back away from that if we aregoing to be a good side.”
Hurley is expected to return to the teamnext week next week for the clash with Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
