""It is a huge game for us. After 21 weeks it all comes down to this game, so it is in our own hands. If we are good enough we will win the match and make the finals,"" Lloyd said.
""It has been a competitive year with so many forwards having good seasons, especially Fraser Gehrig. It would be great (to win a fourth Coleman medal), but Sunday is pretty important for the side.
""I obviously have to play at my best and the team does too and things might take care of themselves. I would love to play finals again and it will be a big disappointment if we don’t get there.""
Lloyd held a joint press conference with Bulldog Nathan Eagleton earlier today at the Starlight Express Room, Royal Children’s Hospital. After the press conference Lloyd and Eagleton played XBOX with the hospitalised children and signed autographs.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation is the preferred charity of the Essendon Football Club and the Western Bulldogs Football Club.
The Starlight Children's Foundation helps brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children around Australia. On Sunday at The Pressure Cooker, Starlight and the Essendon Football Club are calling on members, sponsors and supporters of both clubs to donate to the Starlight's fundraising appeal. The aim of this appeal is to raise $14,000. This amount will allow a wish to be granted to a seriously ill child and fund the placement of a mobile entertainment Starlight Fun Centre unit in a paediatric ward in a Victorian hospital.
Take time today to make a donation or purchase some Starlight merchandise at the game and you too can help make a wish come true.
Essendon Football Club and XBOX are doing their bit to support The Starlight Children’s Foundation by giving you the chance to purchase an XBOX console hand-painted by Matthew Lloyd. The Lloyd XBOX will be auctioned online at essendonfc.com.au to raise money for The Starlight Children's Foundation.
Lloyd painted the XBOX under the artistic guidance of John Barcham and it features the famous Essendon sash and is signed by the three-time Coleman Medallist. Lloyd follows in the footsteps of current Olympian Michael Klim, Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian and artist Ken Done, who have all painted XBOX’s to raise money for charity.
The Lloyd XBOX online auction commences at essendonfc.com.au from midday this Sunday and closes on Wednesday, September 8th at 5pm.
