Former Bomber champion Michael Long has been extremely busy since his retirement from AFL football at the end of last season. The dual premiership player not only has taken on a marketing and player development role at the club - he is also continuing his flying lessons. And today, Long will fly his first solo flight in a four-seater ""Warrior"" plane. ""I am looking forward to the flight. I will leave Essendon airport, fly to Point Cook then to Bacchus Marsh, on to Ballarat and home. The flight should take around 80 minutes,"" Long said.

Long trains to be a pilot every Tuesday at Essendon Airport. He has been studying part-time for over two years. The Bomber favourite is extremely passionate about flying and aims to get his commercial pilots licence so he can start his own charter business. ""In time, I plan to do flying tours through the Territory, also fishing tours and art tours through the different communities. The idea came to fly because the old man lives at Tiwi Islands and the only access is to fly or arrive by boat. I find flying relaxing and also very challenging,"" Long said.
