Essendon has cut another player from its senior list with Mark Alvey today informed by the club that he would not be offered a new contract. Alvey played 14 games in two years with Essendon to bring his career tally to 59. He joined the club two seasons ago as part of the trade deal that saw Danny Jacobs go to Hawthorn and Jade Rawlings to the Western Bulldogs.

Alvey is the sixth Essendon player to be cut from the senior list. He joins Marc Bullen, Ben Haynes, Damian Cupido, Sam Hunt and Ty Zantuck. Alvey joined Essendon having missed the previous season with a knee injury. He was an exceptional performer for the Bendigo Bombers during his time at the club but was unable to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the senior side.
