Bendigo led by a small margin in the first three quarters, before running away with it in the final quarter to finish the game 14.9 (93) to Geelong’s 9.8 (62).
Essendon listed players Jay Neagle, Jake Carlisle, Leroy Jetta, David Myers, Bachar Houli, Jason Laycock and Ben Howlett - who was again excellent all game - contributed to the win by kicking one goal each, while John Williams and Jason Cloke were solid in defence.
Geelong’s Daniel Menzel has been reported for charging Ben Howlett in the third quarter.
