The 2012 AFL Dream Team competition is open for another season and over the next week we are set to give you an insight into the best Bombers to select in your team.
In part two of Dream Team Insider, Dr. Dream Team takes a look at the Essendon players listed as midfielders for this year’s competition.
Brent Stanton – $528,300
2011 points average: 105.8
Dr. Dream Team says: Essendon’s best Dream Team player who can rack up some huge totals. A premium choice.
Jobe Watson – $492,500
2011 points average: 99.5
Started 2011 in stunning form and was one of the leading scorers in the competition. Has improved his game to be a top choice for Dream Teamers.
Heath Hocking – $435,600
2011 points average: 87.1
A consistent player who should push his average above 90 this year.
David Hille – $409,700
2011 points average: 81.8
At his best Hille is one of the most dominant DT ruckman in the game. Could be an excellent second big man in your team.
Ben Howlett – $409,700
2011 points average: 82.8
Another Bomber midfielder who would be expected to push his average into the 90’s in 2012.
Patrick Ryder – $394,400
2011 points average: 79.2
A good choice as one of your two ruckmen. Appears ready for his best season.
Jake Melksham – $344,400
2011 points average: 69.4
A player who should take a step up in his third season. Have him on your radar.
Tom Bellchambers – $319,600
2011 points average: 64.6
Improving player but faces stiff competition to play every week in 2012.
Sam Lonergan – $317,400
2011 points average: 64.1
Fairly priced but gets few easy possessions that star dream team midfielders do.
Brent Prismall – $306,700
2011 points average: 62
Unlikely to play before the mid-season bye, so count him out.
Ricky Dyson – $254,500
2011 points average: 55
Has never been a big dream team scorer so I’d be overlooking him again.
Travis Colyer – $232,500
2011 points average: 44.6
An exciting player who should push his average towards 70 this season.
Lauchlan Dalgleish – $101,800
2011 points average: NA
Rookie selection.
Elliott Kavanagh – $98,700
2011 points average: NA
Word out of the club suggests Kavanagh will play a lot of footy in 2012. Watch.
Anthony Long – $98,700
2011 points average: NA
A rookie selection who may play some footy if his body holds up.
Jackson Merrett – $98,700
2011 points average: NA
Lightly framed so appears set for some time in the VFL to build up his body.
Recently former Essendon defender Andrew Welsh hit the raceway at Phillip Island to take a ride in a V8 supercar. Bomber TV was there to capture all the action as Welsh flew around the track at speeds of up to 280 kilometres an hour.
