The Essendon Football Club today finalised its playing list and announced that Tom Hislop would not be offered a contract for 2009.
The 20-year-old was drafted with pick 20 in the 2006 NAB AFL draft.
This was the same draft that the club recruited Scott Gumbleton (pick 2), Leroy Jetta (pick 18), Alwyn Davey (pick 36), Bachar Houli (pick 42) and Kyle Reimers (pick 47).
The Tasmanian utility played seven games for the club since making his debut in 2007.
There have been nine changes to the playing list since the end of the 2008 season: Adam Ramanauskas (retired), Jason Johnson (retired), Mal Michael (retired), Damien Peverill (delisted), Andrew Lee (delisted), Courtney Johns (delisted), Tom Hislop (delisted) and rookies Dean Dick (delisted), Danny Chartres (delisted).
Twenty-three-year-old 2008 rookie, Jarrod Atkinson, has been promoted to the senior list.
Essendon will now enter the 2008 NAB AFL Draft with five active picks 5, 23, 55, 71 and 87 (or pick 5 in the pre-season draft).
Selection 39 was previously traded to Geelong for Brent Prismall.
