The Bombers’ move to Melbourne Airport is one step closer with pre-season training set to kick off at the Club’s new High Performance Centre early next year.

Essendon chief executive officer Ian Robson has confirmed the MCG size oval will be available for pre-season training in January 2013.

“It is extremely exciting for the players to be able to train on the new oval for the first time in early January,” Robson said.

“This is a really important milestone for the Club and I know the players and coaches simply can’t wait to start using the ground on a full-time basis.”

Robson, who took the Club's new recruits including Brendon Goddard on a tour of the High Performance Centre on Monday, said construction on the training and administration building is progressing well.

“The look and feel of the entire precinct is starting to evolve with the goal posts erected on both ovals and the frame of the hangar style roof on the indoor training hall now in place,” Robson said

“For the players and coaches, it is really exciting to now be able to visualise the elite environment where they will be able to train, prepare and recover.”
