On the eve of his first game as senior coach, BomberTV caught up with some of the Essendon players to find out their first impressions of James Hird as a coach and how he has adapted to his new role.
Paddy Ryder said “he coaches the same way as he played - hard and ruthless,” while David Zaharakis said “he’s very determined about where he wants the club to go and he has a great knowledge of the game.”
Michael Hurley admitted he was “a bit nervous” when Hird first arrived back at the club, while Leroy Jetta described him as “a great coach, pretty hard but pretty fair as well.”
