Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy said today that the Bombers were still hopeful of selecting former Blue Scott Camporeale at the pre-season draft. But he said if things didn't fall the club's way at the draft table there were still plenty of other options. A large media contingent turned out this morning to witness Camporeale's first training session at Windy Hill.

""If we don’t get Scotty then we will move on to the best next young player with our first pick,"" Sheedy explained.

""Our situation clearly in the end is that we want the best pre-season draft you could ever have, because we don’t get this pick very often.""

With Collingwood showing interest in the talented midfielder, the Essendon coach isn't overly concerned.

""They have got every right to that’s the rules of the game. Look, he is a very good player and we have stated our case to get him to Essendon and that’s all we can do.

""Mick (Malthouse) and the Collingwood selectors I’ve got no doubt, will pick who they think is the right person to pick for their club at this time and that’s what we’ll do,"" Sheedy said.

Camporeale trained with the main group today, but he wasn’t the only one on the track who will nominate for the pre-season draft.

""There is nothing worse for players just sitting around at this time of the year when they want to get into pre-season training.

""We have three of four boys out there training who are still up for consideration in the draft. Whether we get those players or not, as a coach you feel it is the right thing to do is to give these guys every opportunity.""
