Following another best-on-ground performance in Round 1 of the pre-season competition this week's poll asks: 'Is Jobe Watson now an elite level AFL midfielder?'.
The 25-year-old is considered to be among the AFL elite for his handball skills but has his game evolved enough to take him to the next bracket and be mentioned alongside players like Judd, Cooney and Bartel?
In the last poll we asked 'should Scott Gumbleton play in the pre-season Cup?' and a massive 95% of fans said 'yes' while just over 4% voted 'no'.
Here's what some of the fans had to say.
Joanne McSwain from Taylors Lakes says: Anyone who says no is nuts. It is time for the big fella to stand up and show everyone what he is made of. Lets not put too much presure on Gumby it will be great to see him play most of the year injury free and then build on it over the next decade.
Travis from Maribyrnong says: The NAB cup is the best way for him to build into the season, the kid has to play! I wouldnt rest anyone except for those injured! ie Hille, Myers, Laycock, everyone has to go to Perth so they can build some sort of game plan for the season proper. We've been shocking in perth lately and how often do we get to have a practice match there? Perfect opportunity for the young guys to get experience on a weird shaped ground!
Neil Poyner from Wirrulla. S.A. says: He needs game time to get him ready for the season.
Nicole from Torquay says: Bit of a no brainer, this question! He needs GAME TIME, GAME TIME, GAME TIME!
Edward from Engadine says: The reality is that he needs match time and body time. If he can't play he is no good to the Bombers and we can't wait for ever.
Anne from Victoria says: Can't keep him in cotton-wool forever. I saw him training a couple of weeks back and he looked pretty good. He needs to start playing games as soon as possible.
Kris from Tokyo says: Depends how long it takes them to get all that cotton wool off. If he doesn't play, and play a lot, then it would be a disservice to Scott, team and supporters, especially the former as he has been raring to go since the end of last season. If he is fit then he needs as much game time as possible.
James Brownfrom Berwick, Vic says: hmmm, not a black and white call. I wanna see him play as much footy as possible, but also don't wanna risk injury. I think he needs game time, so he probably should play nab cup, but if he gets injured, and another season goes down the drain, his career will pretty much be over. Interesting to see what happens, but I think he'll play, and he'lll play well.
Phil Pynor from Kuraby, Qld says: Gumbleton should definitely play if the medical staff give the all clear. He needs as much footy into his legs as possible.
Charlie from Bayswater says: From all reports Gumby was ready to play the last 2-3 games in 2009. If thats the case he should be jumping out of his skin to play competitive games like the NAB Cup ... so let him loose I say and go for it. He needs games & games and more games. He needs a year of at least 15-18 this year to really launch his career. If he can get the NAB Cup & then 15-18 real games this year then 2011 will be the time we really start to see the best of this potential star player for the Bombers.
Greg Sloan from Somerville VIC says: Scott needs to get out there and get back into the rythym of playing games. No question.
John from South Australia says: Scott should play and be used as a rotation centre -half fwd and Full Fwd ....need to stretch out the oppostion
Ray Edwards from Vic says: Play the kid, he has been a long time coming and only game time will get him ready for the 2010 season. He needs to get game fitness under his belt. Sad to say but its now or maybe never. Iam hoping for the kids sake its now. I would hate if we never got to see that abilty that we all no he has.
Gail Poynter from Bacchus Marsh says: For Gumbleton to play in his home state would give him a lot of encouragement for the year ahead and give us ""Gumby"" supporters heart and hope. We have waited a long time.
