Essendon has received a further blow following its 65-point loss to Collingwood today, with key defender Tayte Pears expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured radius (forearm).

Bombers’ general manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said the 19-year-old would require surgery and would be sorely missed having made an impact early in the Bombers’ season.
“He will be a big loss without any doubt,” Hamilton said.

“It’s really disappointing for Tayte and the team - it is one of those disappointing collision injuries that can happen.

“He has had a really good start to the year but unfortunately we are going to have to do without him for 6-8 weeks and we will be looking for others to step up and fill his spot.”
The injury occured in the third quarter.
Important fan update:

Essendon's 'home' match on Saturday night against Hawthorn is also a designated ‘home’ match for Hawks General Admission (GA) members because they play four home games in Tasmania so get the opportunity to attend four ‘away’ matches in Melbourne as ‘home’ matches.

As such, all Essendon Bronze GA members should get to the game as early as possible to ensure they get a seat in the GA designated area.
