Despite narrowly losing to Frankston yesterday, the Bendigo Bombers can still play finals’ football this season. After climbing off the canvas to move into the eight last weekend, the Bombers slipped straight back out after going down to Frankston by five points. The Bombers now need to beat the in form Coburg and Williamstown in the final two rounds to make the finals.

The disappointment of losing aside, a number of Bendigo players have again pushed for senior selection, None more so than recently promoted rookie Ken Hall who finished the game with 21 possessions. Hall was responsible for five centre clearances and he pumped the ball inside 50m six times during the course of the game. His two goals capped of an excellent day.

Shane Harvey, an emergency for the senior side yesterday, was also very good. Harvey finished with 23 possessions, took six marks, went inside 50m six times and kicked two goals. He can’t be far away from getting another chance at senior level and the same could be said for youngster Darren Walsh. Walsh got 17 touches and again showed what good hands he has, taking seven marks.
