Essendon Chief Operating Officer, Travis Auld, today confirmed that Chris Judd's manager has called the Club to say the 2004 Brownlow medallist had narrowed his preferences to two clubs (Collingwood and Carlton) and the Bombers had not made the final list.

""We thought our presentation went quite well and we thought Chris Judd and Essendon would be a good fit but his manager, Paul Connors, called this morning with the news which is obviously disappointing,"" Mr Auld said.

""We did everything possible to convince Chris Judd that Essendon would be the right choice and he said our presentation was very good.""

Mr Auld said that people need to mindful of West Coast in the chase to secure Judd saying they have the right to be satisfied.

""We won’t just put a line through this and walk away, we will sit close and see what happens,"" Mr Auld said.

""There is a lot to happen between now and the end of trade week and if that means Collingwood and Carlton can’t do a deal we will just have to see what happens then.""
