Terry Bracks, wife of former Victorian Premier Steve Bracks, has been presented the 2007 Football Woman of the Year (FWOTY) award.
Ms Bracks, a Melbourne supporter, was presented the Essendon Women's Network award at the Great Grand Final Comedy Debate held at Crown.
She was named the 10th FWOTY for her active involvement in charity work with a Western Bulldogs program and for her efforts to raise awareness of, and funding for, breast cancer.
Past winners of the award include journlists and AFL club board members. The annual award is open to any woman making a contribution to football.
Essendon’s first selection in the 2006 draft (pick 2 overall), Scott Gumbleton, certainly impressed fans in the five games he played this season. Already being touted as the next Scott Lucas, Gumbleton showed strong marking ability and after a strong pre-season in the gym, he will be one to watch in 2008.
