Essendon Football Club has secured Greater Western Sydney youngsters Shaun Edwards and Kurt Aylett in exchange for pick 48 from the Bombers.

The Bombers have beaten the Crows in the race for Edwards, in what has proved as a coup for the club.

Edwards, who is on tour with the Indigenous All-Stars in Ireland has played 12 senior games while Aylett, who is from NSW but arrived at the Giants via North Ballarat, has played just one game.

Edwards is a versatile acquisition for the club who can play both forward and down back, while Aylett is a talented half-back flanker.

It is an exciting result for Essendon who has managed to secure two talented youngsters for a third-round draft pick and could also receive a second round draft pick if it accepts the Western Bulldogs' offer of pick No.26 for key forward Stewart Crameri.

Edwards and Aylett have signed with the club for three and two years respectively.
