Fletcher offered three match ban
The record breaking game of Essendon veteran Dustin Fletcher looks set to be delayed with the defender offered a three-match ban by the Match Review Panel.
Fletcher who is due to break Simon Madden’s club record of 379 matches when he next runs out in the red and black has been charged with a level three engaging in rough conduct offence.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the West Coast Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points).
This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 325 demerit points and a three-match sanction.
He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 243.75 points and a two-match sanction.
General Manager of Football Danny Corcoran said the club would take a closer look at the incident before deciding whether to accept the penalty.
"We will look at both the Fletch and Paddy incidents before deciding tomorrow morning on whether we have grounds to challenge the sanctions handed down," Corcoran told essendonfc.com.au.
Big man Patrick Ryder has also been offered a one match ban for rough conduct against Jamie Cripps during he second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
Ryder’s incident was assessed as as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.
He has three matches suspended within the last two years, increasing the penalty by 10 per cent to 137.50 points and a one-match sanction.
He also has 68.25 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 205.75 demerit points and a two-match sanction.
An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 154.31 points and a one-match sanction.
