The past and the present combined at the True Value Solar Centre on Monday with premiership stars Noel Allanson and Ken Fraser taking a tour of the club’s new home.

Fraser, a dual premiership player, said the new facility was very different to the conditions he trained in over 50 years ago.

“The game has progressed so much, it is so much more demanding on the physical aspects of the player requirements and also the mental side of it.”

“The players are full time, we had jobs and were only at the club for a few hours a week so it didn’t really need to be a home.”

“I am thrilled to bits for the future of the Essendon Football Club.”

Allanson was blown away by the magnitude of the facility.

“There might have been one bath for hot water, showers only worked part of the time,” Allanson joked.

“I would say to the supporters the club is doing its bit and now it is over to the practical part of playing the game.”

“These facilities are simply magnificent.”

“Talk about the club leading the way in facilities for the players it is marvelous.”

Fraser said the planning that had gone into the project was evident as you walked through the facility.

“It is a magnificent training facility and administration headquarters for the club,” he said,

“I’m just flabbergasted at how big it is and how well they have planned it including having the right size for the MCG and Etihad Stadium grounds.”

“This is going to be a wonderful working place for them so it will get the best out of them because they are in the best facilities, they have good leaders and the good leaders have got the facilities to get the best out of them.”
