The Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce that Senior Coach Brad Scott has agreed to a contract extension which will see him lead the Club until at least the end of 2027.

Scott's initial contract was set to run through to the end of 2026, with this new deal extending his tenure by an additional season.

Essendon President David Barham said it was an important announcement for the Club on the eve of round one.

"The extension of Brad’s contract for another year reflects the Club's confidence in his leadership and serves as a statement of stability and alignment, both of which are critical for the Essendon Football Club’s future success," Barham said.

"Our CEO Craig Vozzo, with the full backing of the Football Governance Committee, which includes directors Andrew Welsh, Dean Solomon, and myself, presented this proposal to extend Brad’s contract to the board earlier this month. It was unanimously supported."

"Brad has proven to be an impressive leader in his first two years at the Club. He has selflessly overseen a reset of our list, with 20 list changes in just two years. His club-first mentality has impressed everyone, and he has accepted the challenge of rebuilding the Bombers - purposefully and respectfully - into a team that can compete at the highest level.”

“He has embraced our vision for sustained long-term success, and this extension is another key step towards that success.”

Scott said he was honoured to continue to lead Essendon.

“Football Clubs are built on great people, from our dedicated loyal members to the board, and I’ve got great belief in the Essendon Football Club and the alignment that exists here," Scott said.

“This is not about individuals but I'm grateful for the Club's ongoing trust in our direction. It gives us the stability we need to continue implementing our plan and creating a consistent winning environment. We've reset our football club over two years, and we’ve shown that we've got a stable base from which to build. This is an exciting time for all players, coaches and staff at our Club."

"Coaching Essendon is a privilege I never take for granted, and I’m genuinely excited about the future of this Football Club. I remain fully committed to driving our shared ambition."

"To the Essendon supporters and members: Your passion is the heart of this club. We are working tirelessly to achieve the success you all crave and to build a team you can be proud of."
