The win against Fremantle yesterday, assured the Bombers of a finals berth, however they will have to wait until next weekend to find out what team they will play in the first week of finals. Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy believes his team can have a strong impact on the 2002 finals series and said finals are a new ball park where anything can happen. ""We have had a lot of players out for seven, nine and ten games - when that happens and you have had them back for seven weeks before a finals campaign, that middle of the season that they missed out might just freshen our players up,"" Sheedy said.

Q. What are your thoughts on the Wayne Carey decision?
A. It is great that he has made a decision and it is a very good decision for Adelaide. I have felt all along that Carey is great value as a player. He is probably not unlike Alastair Lynch, who has been up there in the Brisbane goal square and very good in contested marking. I remember Gary Ayres making a comment that they need to have a stronger player up there taking contested marks, so it gives a variety of options for the players kicking into the forward line. I would think that this is Adelaide's answer to a very strong player up in the goal square.

Q. Do you think your members would have been happy if you had drafted Carey?
A. Our job is to bring the best talent to Essendon. It may have been controversial from the point of view of our fans. To be quite honest, I would say that the men would probably want him and the women possible might not. It is always a tough decision how the fans might see it. Essendon will now press on with building a list.

Q. Do you think Carey will get media attention in Adelaide?
A. He will get attention in Adelaide, there is no doubt about that.

Q. You face old rival Carlton on Sunday....
A. We have a game coming up against Carlton and there is no love lost between the two teams. I expect somewhere between the 60,000 - 70,000 mark and I hope we get that crowd and in the end move into a finals series.
