Brendon Goddard cemented his position as one of the premier players in the competition in his first year at Essendon becoming a constant in the Bombers midfield.
Goddard showed his durability during his first season in the red and black playing every gam for the season.
He averaged 26 disposals a game with his ability to pin point a target from any position on the field regularly showcased throughout 2013.
Playing majority of his game time through the midfield during the season his versatility was on full display as he had an impact both back and forward when he was called upon.
Goddard booted 18 goals for the season, his second best return since debuting in 2003, his best in 2010 when he slotted 24.
The 189cm midfielder’s leadership and class was a shining light in what was a turbulent season for the club both on and off the field.
Goddard will be searching for his first best and fairest honour of his career when Crichton Medal night comes around on October 2.
