Essendon Football Club continues to surge towards record membership today surpassing the 55,000 member milestone.
It is only the second time the club has exceeded 55,000 members in its history with the current tally standing at 55,096.
The last time the club surpassed this milestone it did not occur until July of that year.
Coach Mark Thompson thanked the members for their ongoing support.
“On behalf of the playing group and everyone involved with the club I just want to say thank you,” Thompson said.
“It has been a long time for Essendon supporters and it has been a slow build but the fans have stuck with us and we all appreciate it.”
“I want to give back to this club to make sure that all of our members enjoy supporting our club and are proud to support our club.”
As the club aims to reach 60,000 members before July 31 we urge all fans to Don the Sash and join as a 2014 member.
