Midfielder Kurt Aylett will make his debut for Essendon against Brisbane on Saturday afternoon after being included in the team to travel north.

The former GWS midfielder, Marty Gleeson and Patrick Ambrose come into the side in place of Jason Ashby (omitted), Jason Winderlich (knee) and Ben Howlett (rest).

Coach Mark Thompson praised the work ethic of 22-year-old.

"He is a boy from GWS and New South Wales that is just a work horse," Thompson said.

"Kurt is a tough character kid who works hard, is really easy to coach and everyone is rapt that he is in."

Aylett has impressed during the first six rounds of the VFL season averaging over 20 disposals a game and 12 tackles.

The hard at it midfielder joined the Bombers in the off-season along with teammate Shaun Edwards in exchange for pick 48.

Aylett's only other AFL match came against Fremantle in Round 17 in 2012 when he lined up across half back for the Giants.
