A scintillating 34 disposal and two goal performance by David Zaharakis in Essendon’s gutsy win over GWS on the weekend has been rewarded with a perfect ten votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year.

Bomber Thompson and Leon Cameron gave Zaharakis the full votes as the Bombers ground out a 15-point victory.

Thompson paid credit to the 24-year-old’s turn around in form over recent weeks.

““He was very impressive tonight and it is great that he has come back into some great form,” Thompson said post match.

“David started the season quite slow but he has worked his way into this form where he has real influence on the game.”

“He is one of our better players and he is starting to play with form that suggests he is one of our better players.”

GWS midfielder Adam Treloar’s three goals and 27 disposals was recognised with eight votes, while Dyson Heppell with 30 disposals didn’t go unnoticed with six votes.
