Essendon Football Club marked the start of its huge schedule of Dreamtime Week activities on Monday evening with a special training session for the Lil Hume Bombers AusKick group.
The group, formed in 2013, provides football opportunities for young Indigenous children in Broadmeadows and surrounding suburbs. It allows communities to come together through a shared interest of football, allowing local children to develop skills and networks.
Essendon Football Club Head of Community Cameron Britt said that the Lil Hume Bombers are a "great example of the local community coming together to provide youth engagement and development. Our club is proud to partner with the group and provide those special little additions - such as uniforms, match tickets and player visits - that can mean so much".
A number of participants in the group will get the opportunity of a lifetime when they form a special player guard of honour on field at Saturday night's 10th anniversary Dreamtime clash at the ‘G.
