Essendon has made a late change to its team to take on Carlton on Sunday night with Jake Melksham coming into the side replacing Patrick Ambrose.

Ambrose will miss the clash with a sore quad with Melksham set for his first game of the home and away season after serving a two game suspension.

Marty Gleeson will start the game as the substitute.

Jason Ashby has been named for his first game in the red and black with Jason Winderlich also coming into the team that lost to Hawthorn last weekend.
