Essendon champion Michael Long has been inducted as a legend into the AFL Northern Territory Hall of Fame.
AFLNT Hall of Fame Committee Chairman Bryan Moroney said the AFLNT Hall of Fame was established to ensure the Northern Territory's AFL talent would be remembered for generations to come.
“The inaugural list of 25 is comprised of 19 inductees and 6 legends of the game that have contributed over and above to the game,” said Bryan Moroney.
“We have had to recognise this distinct set of individuals as their name immediately springs to mind when talking NT Football. Their exploits and achievements, on and off the field have put the Territory on the map when it comes to AFL football.""
The six legends that were inducted into the AFLNT Hall of Fame were Michael Long, Darryl White, Bill Dempsey, Michael McLean, Maurice Rioli and David Kantilla.
Essendon will face off against the Western Bulldogs in Round 1 of the 2011 home and away season. The 24-round fixture announced by the AFL today, will see the Bombers play three Friday night games and eight Saturday night matches.
