Following overwhelming demand for tickets to the sold-out 2007 Crichton Medal (on Wednesday 3 October at Crown) it will now be broadcast LIVE on the Club website, Essendon General Manager Community and Media, Simon Matthews, said today.

In what is believed to be a first in Australian sport, from today Bomber fans can subscribe to watch the entire event as the club presents its best and fairest award and celebrates the career of recently retired superstar, James Hird.

Despite missing five games due to injury, Hird is again expected to feature prominently in Crichton Medal voting along with Mark McVeigh, Dustin Fletcher, Brent Stanton, Damien Peverill and last year's winner Scott Lucas.

Unfortunately, Kevin Sheedy has told the club he is unlikely to attend as he will be overseas with his wife.

""Before the club had even sent out invitations to the 2007 Crichton Medal, the number of requests for tickets far exceeded the number of places available,"" Mr Matthews said.

""There is tremendous interest from Bomber fans because this is an historic and special night and follows an emotional season.

""To make sure those people who missed out on tickets, and those loyal fans who just love the club, canstill join around 1500 guests on the night we have organised for the event to be broadcast live on the club website.

""This is a first for our club and possibly for any Australian sporting club. We will continue to do this annually if it's successful and the fans enjoy watching the service.""

To cover production costs for the broadcast there is a $10 fee for Bomber TV members and $15 for non-members.

Exact times are being finalised but the MC welcome is expected at 7:30pm. A full running sheet will put on the club website later this week.
